What You Should Know Before the #NVGov Debate: Lombardo is Anti-Abortion

And he’ll be an anti-abortion governor no matter how hard he tries to rewrite history.

It’s Friday, which means we’re here to tell you the final thing you should know about Joe Lombardo before he takes the #nvgov debate stage on Sunday. You’ll likely hear about his weak education plans, hypocrisy on the economy, non-answers on the Big Lie, and failed record as sheriff. You’ll also want to be on the look out for his craven attempts to erase his anti-abortion stances.

Regardless of what he says on the debate stage, Lombardo “is anti-abortion” and will be an anti-choice governor.

Here’s a quick overview of Lombardo’s stances.

He supports banning contraception, overturning Nevada’s existing abortion protections, and repealing Governor Sisolak’s executive order protecting providers and out of state patients from punishment by other states.

With abortion rights becoming one of the top issues for Nevada voters this year, Lombardo has done a 180, walking back every stance he’s ever taken. Just this week, Lombardo reversed his support for overturning the governor’s executive order.

But behind closed doors, he’s telling conservative voters he’ll repeal the order “right away” and supporting anti-abortion crisis pregnancy centers in his capacity as sheriff.

Las Vegas Review-Journal: Lombardo changes stance on abortion executive order

At former Attorney General and Republican U.S. Senate candidate Adam Laxalt’s annual Basque Fry on Aug. 13, Lombardo told a potential voter in reference to Sisolak’s executive order that “we can repeal that right away.” The potential voter asked, “So you’re going to do that?” Lombardo replied, “yes,” according to audio that was provided to the Review-Journal.

Nevada Current: Complaint filed against Lombardo for donating Metro helicopter ride to anti-abortion group’s fundraiser

The complaint focuses on the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) donating ride-alongs in the department’s helicopter to an anti-abortion “crisis pregnancy center,” Women’s Resource Medical Centers of Southern Nevada (WRMCSN), at the religious nonprofit’s annual fundraising gala this spring and the exclusive support of WRMCSN in the LVMPD resource pamphlet.
