Trump Coming to Nevada to Rescue Flailing Laxalt Campaign

Trump-Laxalt Lovefest Coming to Nevada…

Adam Laxalt’s Senate campaign is off to a very rocky start and Donald Trump is here to the rescue. Last night, Trump went on right-wing TV and told his supporters that he was coming to Nevada and today he made it clear that he sees this as necessary to save Laxalt, his top Nevada lackey.

Here’s why Trump wants to bail out Laxalt:

Laxalt is Trump’s main lackey in Nevada and continues to base his campaign strategy around Trump’s Big Lie.

In 2020, Laxalt became “the face of” Trump’s Big Lie in Nevada where he “orchestrat[ed] a slew of failed lawsuits meant to stop the ballot tally,” earning him a “complete and total” endorsement from Trump as soon as he launched his campaign. Laxalt then proceeded to make the Big Lie the centerpiece of his campaign, and said he’s planning preemptive election litigation to challenge the 2022 election after his 2020 lawsuits failed.

Reminder, a federal judge, the Nevada Supreme Court, and Nevada’s Republican Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske all ruled there was no evidence of any widespread voter fraud in 2020. In fact, Laxalt’s main Big Lie posterboy just pleaded guilty to making up his allegation of voter fraud.

Laxalt would kill thousands of Nevada jobs to benefit Trump.

As Laxalt launched his campaign, he made it clear that he would side with Trump over Nevada when it came to policy decisions, heeding Trump’s warning to oppose the historic bipartisan infrastructure deal. Laxalt’s cynical move was so extreme that Nevada labor leaders are calling him a “threat to Nevada jobs.”

Like Trump, Laxalt has a history of corruption and pay-to-play scandals that continue to haunt his Senate campaign.

In 2017, Laxalt was caught on tape using his Attorney General’s office to try to benefit his shady special interest donors. Later, he was found to be using his office to try to keep investigators from scrutinizing groups connected to one of his largest campaign backers — the Koch Brothers — who then spent millions to try and elect him Governor.

More recently, Laxalt found himself in the center of a national corruption trial because of his Trump ties. Over the course of the trial, new documents revealed that convicted felon and Trump associate Lev Parnas was led to believe that Laxalt would help him get amarijuana license in Nevada while he helped his campaign. Laxalt himself had to take the witness stand, but his testimony raised more questions than answers, leading to additional scrutiny of his new pay-to-play scandal.

Statement from Senior Communications Adviser, Andy Orellana:

“Adam Laxalt is bleeding support from Nevada Republicans and now he’s calling in Trump to save his flailing campaign. This rally will only remind voters why they rejected Laxalt the last time he ran: he’s a corrupt, failed politician who works for Trump and his special interest donors, not Nevada.”
