After establishing himself as the “face of” the Big Lie and “laying detailed groundwork” to overturn the 2022 election, Laxalt went all in with the insurrectionist crowd – pushing conspiracy theories and embracing those who attacked law enforcement at the Capitol. 

In February 2022, Laxalt called the deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol exaggerated and said most insurrectionists should not be prosecuted. 

Just a few months later he hired an insurrectionist who marched with Oath Keepers on January 6 as his top spokeswoman (and one of those very Oath Keepers faced federal court this week for seditious conspiracy). 

Laxalt has also hired Carolina Serrano, a January 6 truther, as a top aide. Serrano has called to repeal the Civil Rights Act.
