Step 5: Laxalt Has to Convince His Base That Their Votes Still Count

Sleazy, corrupt politician Adam Laxalt has based his entire campaign for Senate around the Big Lie. But privately, he’s had to reassure GOP voters in rural Nevada that election fraud only exists in Democratic strongholds and urban areas.

After months of peddling the Big Lie and crying election fraud, Laxalt flipped the script for his Republican base, urging his supporters to be confident that their votes are “legitimate.” At multiple events in rural counties, Laxalt told crowds their “votes are going to count,” while there are “major problems” in places like Clark and Washoe County, where Las Vegas and Reno are located.

When Laxalt’s sleazy game was revealed, he faced scrutiny from across the country, including by Chris Hayes, Morning Joe, The Washington Post, and many others

Statement from Nevada Democratic Victory Spokesperson Olivia Davis:

Laxalt’s two-faced lie shows he is only out to gain power for himself. He will continue to peddle lies and cry voter fraud when it’s convenient for him, then flip the script when he’s in front of Republican voters who believe his debunked stories of voter fraud in the 2020 election. Laxalt’s attempts to walk this fine line won’t fool Nevadans and they will reject him in November like they did last time.
