Sheriff Lombardo Joins Trump Jr. at Event Mocking Deadly Jan. 6 Insurrection

John L. Smith: “Given [Lombardo’s] background, you’d think he’d be on the side of law enforcement.”

In a desperate effort to survive his crowded primary, Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo joined forces with the top promoters of the Big Lie, sharing a stage with Donald Trump Jr. who mocked and downplayed the January 6th insurrection that led to the death of multiple police officers.

Las Vegas Review-Journal: [Trump Jr.] said that the arrests made during the Jan. 6 insurrection aren’t legitimate and that what happened wasn’t actually an insurrection.

KSNV: [Trump Jr.] also spent time…making fun of the January 6 insurrection.

Despite centering his campaign on law and order and his responsibility overseeing Nevada‘s largest police department, Lombardo has yet to denounce the Big Lie and a PAC supporting his candidacy has been called out for pushing baseless election fraud claims on the airwaves.

Nevada Independent: OPINION: [Lombardo], too, has embraced Trump’s endorsement – and all the election integrity misdirection that goes with it. Given his background, you’d think he’d be on the side of law enforcement.

Las Vegas Sun: Many Republicans running for office in Nevada have touted and continue to tout those claims of election fraud and election insecurity. When asked by the Sun if the Thursday hearing changed any of their stances, they were silent … The campaign for Nevada gubernatorial candidate Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo, who recently received Trump’s endorsement, declined to comment for the story.

“Joe Lombardo claims to support law enforcement on the campaign trail but his actions make it clear that couldn’t be further from the truth,” said Nevada Democratic Victory spokesperson Mallory Payne. “It’s time for Lombardo to show some integrity for once and denounce the deadly insurrection that took the lives of multiple officers.”
