Republicans Following Adam Laxalt’s Playbook In California

Per AP, Laxalt Is Already Fomenting Fears Of Voter Fraud In 2022 And Preparing Litigation To Potentially Overturn The Election If He Loses

Trump GOP’s “Growing Instinct…To Argue That Any Lost Election, Or Any Ongoing Race That Might Result In Defeat, Must Be Marred By Fraud.”

With Donald Trump and Republicans across the country already making false claims of voter fraud ahead of California’s recall election Tuesday, it remains to be seen if they will go as far as Adam Laxalt in plotting to use litigation to “tighten up” the 2022 election. Last week the AP reported that Adam Laxalt is already crying wolf about voter fraud in next year’s midterm election and is planning to file early litigation and potentially overturn the 2022 election results when he loses his race for Senate.

But after a week of scathing national and local coverage, Laxalt has still not responded “to questions about whether pre-election litigation could affect voter confidence or whether he would accept the results of the 2022 election.” Nor has Laxalt provided a response as to the nature of lawsuits that could “tighten up the election” on his behalf in 2022.

Statement from Senior Communications Advisor Andy Orellana, Nevada Democratic Victory:

“Adam Laxalt is leading national efforts to undermine our democracy by continuing to spread lies about voter fraud and planning to push litigation to make it harder for Nevadans and all Americans to vote. Far-right Republicans are taking notice and implementing Laxalt’s Big Lie playbook next door in California, spreading misinformation and casting doubt on election results because they are afraid of losing.”
