On the 56th Anniversary of Medicare and Medicaid, A Reminder That Adam Laxalt Supported Blocking Over 275,000 Nevadans from Getting Health Care Through Medicaid

As Nevadans celebrate today’s 56th anniversary of Medicare and Medicaid, these programs continue to be under constant attacks by Republicans like corrupt, failed politician Adam Laxalt, who would have threatened the health care of over a million Nevadans who rely on these programs.

As GOP Governor Brian Sandoval enacted Medicaid expansion in Nevada and provided needed coverage to over 275,000 Nevadans, Adam Laxalt made it clear he openly opposed expanding coverage for low-income Nevadans. Rather than support health care coverage for vulnerable Nevadans, Laxalt instead sided with his wealthy, special interest backers who opposed Medicaid expansion, not to mention gutting Medicare and Social Security Nevadans rely upon.

Statement from Senior Communications Advisor Andy Orellana:

“Make no mistake – Adam Laxalt would have let over 275,000 Nevadans in need of  Medicaid hang out to dry, and would be more than happy to throw Nevada families under the bus if it meant more praise from the DC GOP and more cash from his corporate special interests donors.”
