On 49th Anniversary of Roe v. Wade, #NVGov Republicans Threaten Nevadans’ Right to Choose As Lombardo Remains Silent

Saturday marked the 49th anniversary of Roe v. Wade and it couldn’t be more critical for Nevadans–who overwhelmingly support the right to choose–to know the threat the Republican candidates for governor pose to the Silver State’s progress on reproductive freedom.

Despite the right to choose being codified in Nevada’s constitution, the field has promised to roll back progress in any way they can. Dean Heller “likes what Texas did” and vowed to enact the most conservative laws possible. John Lee laid out a plan to be Nevada’s most anti-choice governor. Joey Gilbert has promised to oppose any pro-choice legislation, while Guy Nohra lists limiting abortion as a top priority. Joe Lombardo–seven months into his campaign–still won’t tell voters where he stands on abortion, continuing to play politics with Nevadans’ freedoms.

“With Roe v. Wade hanging in the balance, it’s more important than ever for local leaders to defend the right to choose. Yet, Republicans running for governor are joining the nationwide attack on reproductive freedom. Joe Lombardo won’t even give voters a straight answer on his position as he plays politics with Nevadans’ access to care,” said Nevada Democratic Victory spokesperson Mallory Payne. “Nevadans want a leader who will be transparent and champion critical issues like freedom of choice–not cater to their base.”
