New Year, Same Nontransparent Lombardo: Dodging Debates and Hiding from Nevadans

Lombardo Declined to Join the Rest of the Field for Two Debates Happening this Month

The Republican primary for governor is heating up and debate season is officially upon us. The GOP civil war will be on full display tomorrow night in Reno as nine candidates take the stage at their first debate, but one candidate won’t be there to explain his unclear positions or fend off his opponents’ attacks–Joe Lombardo, naturally. Lombardo is also dodging a second debate in Elko later this month.

Lombardo’s absence will allow him to keep doing what he does best–dodging questions, taking both sides on the issues, avoiding accountability, and choosing political gain over transparency.

By skipping these two debates, Jellyfish Joe is able to continue taking both sides on immigration, defunding the police, taxes, and vaccines, and remaining silent on reproductive rights. And he can dodge questions about his recent scandals–trying to cover up corruption in Metro’s vice unit and hiding his immigration policies from the public.

“Joe Lombardo hasn’t given voters a straight answer on a single issue since he launched his campaign and now he’s making clear he doesn’t think Nevadans deserve to know where he stands,” said Nevada Democratic Victory spokesperson Mallory Payne. “It’s no surprise he’s hiding from the public and his critics so he doesn’t have to answer for his lies. Transparency and accountability clearly don’t exist in Lombardo’s vocabulary, but there’s no doubt his lies and corruption will catch up to him over the next six months.”
