Lombardo Claims Fraud in the 2020 Election Weeks After Saying He “Didn’t See Any Evidence”

Joe Lombardo isn’t leaving a single critical issue on the table as he runs yet another play out of his do-or-say-anything-to-win playbook. In an effort to make it through a crowded Republican primary, he’s now honing in on the far right’s bread and butter: false claims of voter fraud in the 2020 election.

In June, after launching his campaign, he said he “didn’t see any evidence” of fraud when asked about the accuracy of the 2020 election. Now, in a fundraising plea targeting his base, he’s claiming legislation aimed at expanding access to the ballot box “increased voter fraud” in the election.

This is the fourth time since launching his campaign, he’s worked to have it both ways on the issues impacting Nevadans most. First, it was immigration, then he tried to take two sides on vaccines, then it was on the topic of defunding the police, and now he’s telling his base one thing and the media another when it comes to false claims of voter fraud in the presidential election.

“Joe Lombardo has become brazen in his strategy to do or say anything to win a competitive Republican primary–and he’s already being called out for it,” said Nevada Democratic Victory spokesperson Molly Forgey. “In less than two months on the trail, he’s publicly shifted his message on a number of important topics just to fit the audience in front of him. This is going to be a long primary for Joe Lombardo.”
