As COVID cases rise across the country, Mayor John Lee is promoting vaccine hesitancy — even after he contracted COVID-19 in May despite being eligible for the vaccine. Rather than trusting scientists and medical professionals, Lee is taking advice from his “friends…in the healing arts.”

Instead of using his position to encourage life-saving vaccines, Lee is dangerously spreading misinformation, claiming the Johnson & Johnson shot contains the virus. He even admitted he still hasn’t been vaccinated, based on guidance from his pals in the healing arts and the fact that the vaccines hadn’t been approved by the FDA yet. Since that is no longer the case, will he finally do the right thing and use his platform to encourage Nevadans to get vaccinated or continue spreading lies in the hopes of winning over his far-right base?

“Mayor Lee has the ability to make a real difference in stopping the spread of COVID-19 by encouraging Nevadans to get a life-saving vaccine,” said Nevada Democratic Victory spokesperson Mallory Payne. “Instead, he’s trusting healing artists over medical experts and spreading dangerous misinformation for his own political gain. It’s irresponsible and frankly, just plain embarrassing.”
