ICYMI: Adam Laxalt’s Senate Campaign Off to a Rough Start

Laxalt Is Once Again Facing Scrutiny For His Trump Ties And History Of Corruption

After corrupt, failed politician Adam Laxalt had Tom Cotton, Ron DeSantis and Ric Grenell announce his candidacy for the U.S. Senate over the weekend, Laxalt finally got around to announcing his campaign to represent Nevada in the Senate this week. Unfortunately Laxalt failed to mention Nevada in his campaign announcement.

Laxalt’s announcement was widely panned, with media reports citing his Trump ties, his humiliating defeat in his 2018 gubernatorial campaign, and his pattern of corruption in the Attorney General’s office. Across the country, Laxalt is well-known as a main perpetrator of the Big Lie in Nevada, and the face of Trump’s efforts to overturn the state’s election results.

Check out the coverage of Laxalt’s stumble out of the gate:

“In 2020, he served as co-chair of Trump’s campaign in Nevada, spearheading efforts to overturn President Joe Biden’s victory in the state through failed legal challenges to Nevada’s mail-in voting laws and attempts to stop the vote-counting process in Clark County. Judges in every case dismissed the challenges and Nevada’s Republican secretary of state defended the results as reliable and accurate.” – AP,  8.17.21

“After being elected attorney general in 2014, Laxalt spent his sole term in office advancing a right-wing agenda and standing up for his top donors.”American Independent, 8.16.21

“Adam Laxalt rose to prominence in 2014 […] and during his tenure butted heads with Republican Gov. Brian Sandoval and his moderate allies in the state party.” – AP, 8.16.21

“[Opponents took] aim at Laxalt over an ethics probe during his tenure as attorney general and his efforts to overturn the 2020 election results in the state.” – Fox News, 8.17.21

“Laxalt doesn’t have the GOP field to himself….” – Politico, 8.17.21

“Sam Brown, an Army veteran who saw combat in Afghanistan, is running as the upstart conservative outsider. Brown’s supporters are angling to undercut Laxalt by defining him as an establishment toady who would make a mediocre general election candidate.”

– Washington Examiner, 8.17.21

“Nevada’s former attorney general canceled a planned media huddle…” – Reno Gazette Journal, 8.14.21
