Days After Laxalt Campaigns with Plutonium-Pushing Rick Perry, Senator Catherine Cortez Masto Announces Successful Removal of Radioactive Material He Dumped in Nevada

Just days after corrupt politician Adam Laxalt campaigned with Rick Perry – who tried to reopen Yucca Mountain and secretly shipped a half metric ton of radioactive material to Nevada – Senator Catherine Cortez Masto announced that she had successfully removed the plutonium that Perry had dumped in her state.

Laxalt’s top ally had led efforts to make Nevada a nuclear dumping ground during the Trump administration, endangering the lives of countless Nevada families, and betraying the state’s trust by shipping this plutonium.

Cortez Masto worked tirelessly to ensure the removal of the half metric ton of radioactive material to protect Nevadans health and well-being. In a major victory for the state, Perry agreed, and today Cortez Masto announced that the dangerous materials he shipped to Nevada had been removed.

Statement from Nevada Democratic Victory Spokesperson Olivia Davis:

“While Laxalt proudly embraces the politician who led efforts to turn Nevada into a nuclear dumping ground, Senator Cortez Masto took him on and won. There is a sharp contrast between Laxalt, who praises politicians like Perry that attack the state of Nevada, and Senator Cortez Masto, who always puts her state first.”
