Band of Bothers

This week, Lombardo’s silence on Metro’s corrupt immigration practices continued. Unfortunately for him, he has to face the public at his office opening in Reno today, along with Joey Gilbert supporters who are protesting the event. After Gilbert slammed Lombardo all week, his fans are showing they’re as loyal as ever. Meanwhile, Michele Fiore made her way further into the Trump circle.

Everything you need to know about what the Band of Bothers have been up to this week:

Lombardo’s Silence Gets Louder
We’ve heard nothing but silence from Joe Lombardo on the report that he’s been running Metro in a way that directly conflicts with his public stances and statements. He has kept Nevadans in the dark for years, misled his constituents with false public stances, and created a culture of corruption at Metro–and refuses to give Nevadans the explanation they deserve.

Fight to the Right
With his sights set on Lombardo, Joey Gilbert is going all in. After slamming Lombardo for mandating the COVID vaccine for Metro new hires, Gilbert referred to him as “Sisolak with a badge” and compared him to Joe Biden. His loyal supporters have joined the fight, planning to protest “Democrat, RINO” Lombardo’s office opening in Reno today.

Gilbert isn’t the only one who thinks Lombardo doesn’t belong in this far-right primary. Heller has called Lombardo a “liberal” and now conservative media is making it clear that Lombardo is far from their top pick, describing him as “a frustrated elected official that shows his ineptness to run a county.”

Unlike Lombardo, Fiore continues to gather support from the Trump sphere. This week she was spotted at a fundraiser for Rep. Lauren Boebert and announced an endorsement from Rep. Paul Gosar, who was recently endorsed by the former President.

“A String of Violent Crimes”
Rising crime in Las Vegas continues to be in the spotlight, posing a problem for Sheriff Lombardo who is already being hit by the rest of the field for his inability to keep Valley residents safe. With homicides up 58% across Clark County this year, this problem is unlikely to go away for Lombardo.

Las Vegas Review-Journal: “Despite police efforts, sporadic acts of violence on the Strip have persisted through 2021 as millions of visitors returned.”

This Week’s Unpopular Obsession + Popular Omission
Between touting ultra-conservative endorsements and blasting Lombardo for being a RINO, this week’s unpopular obsession is going above and beyond to prove their far-right bona fides.

And once again, the popular omission is health care. The field is saying nothing about expanding access to affordable health care or combatting the virus.

Soundbite of the Week

“You got guys here running for governor on a record like they did a good job as sheriff? Are you kidding me?” – Joey Gilbert
