As Governor Sisolak Wraps Up Health Care Week, #NVGov GOP Candidates Continue to Focus on Conservative Litmus Test

While Governor Sisolak visited health centers and organizations across the state this week to thank frontline workers and discuss expanding access to care and mental health services, the Republican candidates for governor have continued to show no leadership or concern for Nevadans’ health.

Instead, they have politicized masks and life-saving vaccines, offered no solutions to prevent the spread of covid, and provided no plans to make affordable health care more accessible. Rather than talking about one of the most important issues to Nevadans, the field has prioritized conservative base issues like the Big Lie and defunding the police.

Governor Sisolak, on the other hand, has a proven record of expanding Nevadans’ health care by protecting those with pre-existing conditions, ending surprise billing, and creating a public option that will lower premiums and provide more affordable coverage options.

“Since day one, health care has been a priority for Governor Sisolak and his record shows it,” said Nevada Democratic Victory spokesperson Mallory Payne. “But when it comes to this Republican field, apparently health care hasn’t even crossed their minds. They’re so transfixed on appealing to their far-right base that they can’t even address an issue central to Nevada families.”
