Another Day, Another Silent Lombardo

Keeping to his habit of staying quiet when his corruption is in the spotlight, Lombardo still hasn’t addressed new reporting this week that he violated state law when trying to cover up alleged misconduct within Metro’s vice unit.

Amid an FBI investigation into vice after allegations of sexual relationships with prostitutes, Lombardo tried to have a judge removed from Metro cases after she publicly expressed concerns about corruption within the department. But when requesting the removal, Lombardo abused his power and broke Nevada statute by going straight to the Chief Judge instead of following legal procedure and filing an affidavit. He has yet to comment on his blatant disregard of the law.

Lombardo recently made headlines for a corrupt immigration operation within Metro that he kept from the public for over two years. After ending the 287(g) program in 2019, he privately instructed officers to help lead ICE to nonviolent undocumented immigrants. It’s been nearly a month and he still hasn’t given an explanation.

“Lombardo’s campaign hinges solely on the fact that he’s sheriff but every week we learn something new about his corruption and lack of transparency,” said Nevada Democratic Victory spokesperson Mallory Payne. “While touting corrupt leadership as a qualification for governor, he refuses to give Nevadans answers–not only for his misconduct but for his positions on key issues, as well. At this point, we expect nothing but silence from him. Nevadans deserve better.”
