Ahead of January 6th: How Adam Laxalt Fueled the Big Lie and the Deadly Insurrection at the Capitol

Meanwhile, Laxalt Remains Silent on the Violence He Inspired

As the nation approaches the one year anniversary of the deadly January 6th insurrection, corrupt, failed politician Adam Laxalt will face new scrutiny for his role inspiring the violence at our nation’s capital.

Laxalt led efforts to overturn the 2020 election results in Nevada, becoming “the face of” Trump’s Big Lie in the state and “orchestrat[ing] a slew of failed lawsuits meant to stop the ballot tally.” A Nevada judge, the Nevada Supreme Court, and Nevada’s Republican Secretary of State all ruled there was no evidence of any fraud, yet Laxalt refused to publicly accept the outcome of the election.

Laxalt has promised to go even further than Trump in his campaign for Senate. Shortly after Laxalt announced his campaign, the AP reported he was already planning preemptive election litigation to challenge the 2022 election if he loses, arguing that the Trump campaign’s lawsuits came too late. The Huffington Post also reported that Laxalt won’t commit to certifying the 2024 presidential election if Biden wins.

Laxalt has refused to take responsibility for his role spreading Trump’s Big Lie and helping lead Trump’s “Stop the Steal” campaign that fueled the January 6 attack. To date, the only comments he has made about the insurrection are to refer to it as “that fateful day in January… when they pulled him off social media.

Statement from Nevada Democratic Victory Spokesperson, Andy Orellana:

“Adam Laxalt led Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election, spreading the Big Lie and helping incite the deadly insurrection on January 6. Nevadans will remember Laxalt’s role and the violence he and Trump inspired.”
