Adam Laxalt’s Senate Launch Reminds Nevadans Why They Rejected Him The Last Time

Laxalt Continues Pushing Trump’s Big Lie, Doubles Down on Killing Nevada Jobs, Wraps Himself in Trump and Corruption

Las Vegas Sun Editorial: “Laxalt is just as bad a candidate for Senate as he was for governor.”

As failed, corrupt politician Adam Laxalt fumbled his Senate campaign launch last week, he reminded Nevada voters why they rejected him in the first place: Laxalt is Trump’s main lackey in state and has never focused on anyone but himself.

Here are the top three takeaways from his first week as a candidate for the U.S. Senate.

1 – Laxalt Earned Trump’s “Complete and Total” Endorsement For Continuing To Push The Big Election Lie: As voters finally got a chance to hear from Laxalt, he reminded them he is “the face of Trump’s baseless election fraud lawsuits,” and is making his efforts to spread lies about the 2020 election a centerpiece of his campaign in 2022.

Las Vegas Sun Editorial: “Laxalt is anything but a political star within Nevada…Instead, he’s a supplicant of Donald Trump, which is why the national GOP has latched on to him.”

Las Vegas Review Journal: “[Laxalt] has not backed down from his claims that fraudulent ballots were cast. ‘I believe there was fraud in the election…And I think virtually everyone believes there was fraud in the election.’”

Laxalt to KSNV: “There’s the concerns that I brought up about the 2020 election…that could not guarantee a safe election, those concerns aren’t gone… And so we plan on being very vocal about that…No one debates that there was fraud in this election. No one debates there was fraud.”

Laxalt to KLAS: In fact, I don’t know that anybody argues that there was not fraud in mail-in balloting. The question is to what degree, and the answer is we still don’t know.”

A federal judge, the Nevada Supreme Court, and Nevada’s Republican Secretary of State all ruled there was no evidence of any fraud, yet Laxalt continues to spread baseless claims of voter fraud in Nevada’s 2020 election. All of Laxalt’s love for pushing Trump’s corrupt politics of lies and falsehoods ultimately gave Laxalt the reward he had always been craving – Donald Trump’s “complete and total” endorsement

2 – Laxalt Doubled Down on Killing Jobs for Nevadans. As Laxalt continued to launch his campaign, he made it clear he will continue to make policy decisions based on Trump, heeding Trump’s warning to oppose the historic bipartisan infrastructure deal that would create thousands of local jobs. Laxalt reminded Nevada’s working families that he would have fought against the  $3 billion to be invested in Nevada’s growing economy as a result of the infrastructure package, threatening jobs for Nevadans.

3 – Laxalt Can’t Escape His History of Corruption as AG. Nevadans were quickly reminded of Laxalt’s limited and scandal-plagued term in public office with the Nevada Current highlighting how Laxalt’s term was marked by scandal, including self-dealing for Laxalt’s biggest campaign donor, the late Sheldon Adelson. The American Independent described how Laxalt “spent his sole term in office advancing a right-wing agenda and standing up for his top donors,” not Nevadans.

Statement from Senior Communications Advisor Andy Orellana:

“In his first week as a Senate candidate, Adam Laxalt continued pushing Trump’s lies about the 2020 election, doubled down against a historic bipartisan infrastructure investment to create jobs in Nevada, and faced additional questions about his corruption scandals as AG. Laxalt’s full Trump Show in week one of his campaign tells Nevadans all they need to know – Laxalt is focused only on serving Trump and himself, not Nevadans.”
