Adam Laxalt’s Opposes $45 Million in Funding For Nevada Bridges and New Jobs for Nevadans

Now that the Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal has been signed into law, Nevada is set to create thousands of good-paying jobs and make crucial improvements to its roads and bridges. Today, Senators Cortez Masto and Rosen announced $45 million in infrastructure funding is on its way to help rebuild Nevada’s bridges, with $180 million more to come. Adam Laxalt thinks Nevada should get $0, and continues to oppose the infrastructure law.

Even after 19 Senate Republicans voted for it, Laxalt doubled-down in his opposition to the infrastructure law, which is why labor leaders across the state have called him a “threat to Nevada jobs.” If Laxalt had his way, Nevada would never receive these new investments in the Tropicana Bridge over I-15 in Las Vegas, a main thoroughfare off The Strip, and further delay investments in the aging Spaghetti Bowl bridges in the heart of Reno and Sparks.

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal is delivering critical federal dollars to Nevada and creating thousands of new jobs. Yet Laxalt continues to oppose these investments, new funding for our bridges, and:

  • Clean drinking water for 500,000 homes in the region
  • $8 billion to combat wildfires in the region
  • $3 billion to rebuild Nevada’s roads, bridges, transit, and provide broadband access to at least 123,000 Nevadans

Statement from Senior Communications Advisor Andy Orellana:

“The bipartisan infrastructure and jobs bill is delivering historic investments for Nevada’s economic future, but Adam Laxalt would prefer Nevada doesn’t receive this support. Laxalt’s opposition to these new jobs and federal funding tells Nevadans everything they need to know about his priorities for working families.”
