- October 23, 2019: Sheriff Lombardo publicly touts the end of the 287(g) agreement, saying in a statement that Metro will continue working to fight violent crime and remove “the worst of the worst.”
- October 24, 2019: Lombardo privately instructs officers to contact ICE about nonviolent undocumented immigrants…and to keep it off the books.
- June 28, 2021: Lombardo officially announces his campaign for governor, marking the start of the never-ending contradictions between Candidate Lombardo and Sheriff Lombardo.
- July 17, 2021: At an event with the NAACP, Sheriff Lombardo doubles down that he doesn’t have a zero tolerance policy to immigration and reiterates that Metro is only interested in the worst of the worst.
