With QAnon-linked group The Patriot Voice announcing their convention in Las Vegas this October, it would be more surprising if the GOP candidates for Governor didn’t attend. In a crowded and messy primary, they’ve shown they will do or say anything to win over their conservative base even if it means embracing conspiracy theories perpetuated by a group deemed a potential domestic terrorist threat by the FBI.

The GOP candidates have a clear history of embracing far-right conspiracies with no evidence. Joey Gilbert is just steps away from embracing QAnon after attending the January 6th insurrection and filling his twitter with conspiracy theories. In true Joe Lombardo fashion, he’s taken both sides on the issue, claiming he didn’t see any evidence of voter fraud in the 2020 election while making election integrity a key point in a fundraising plea to his supporters. Guy Nohra pushed election conspiracies from the jump, saying he wants to “expose the election fraud we all know is there.” Lastly, newly converted Republican John Lee uses his official Twitter account to promote bogus election audits and spread conspiracy theories about the 2020 election.

“Republicans don’t need to attend a QAnon convention to prove what we already know–they are so desperate to win over their far-right base, they’ll embrace dangerous conspiracy theories to get ahead,” said Nevada Democratic Victory spokesperson Molly Forgey. “At a time when our democracy has been under the fiercest attack, Nevada deserves a leader who will fight to protect the ballot box, not cave to political pressure.”
